We are located about an hour west of Winston-Salem, an hour and a half north west of Charlotte, and 45 minutes east of Boone in the foothills of North Carolina. We are also about an hour from the Virginia line. There are numerous outdoor activities in the area. These include skiing, hiking, mountain biking, boating, fishing, hunting, mountain climbing, horseback riding, camping, etc. Festivals, various markets, and special events are held throughout the year. It is a wonderful community for family with great schools including a community college and several close universities. The county offers a safe, friendly environment.
We have two physical locations. There is a Fixed Site with 13 operatories and a Mobile Clinic with 2 operatories. Both facilites are up to date with the Mobile Clinic purchased in 2014 and the Fixed Site is being renovated in 2022.
Work schedules are 8:00-5:00 four days. Clinic is open Monday through Friday. One team works Monday through Thursday and the other team works Tuesday through Friday.
Our staff consists of 4 Dentists, 2 Public Health Hygienists, Office manager, 3 Receptionists and 2 Interpreters, Mobile Clinic Manager and Executive Director. The dentists have from 1 to 30 years experience in dentistry. Each dentist has two Educated, Certified Dental Assistants, and most have 10+ years experience.
GENERAL DENTIST POSITION AVAILABLE
Experienced and enthusiastic dental team seeks general dentist for vibrant public health practice. The dentist will treat a combination of children and adults. Each doctor will work with two assistants and will maintain regular patients in their schedule. We like to keep the patients with the same provider to help with management and comfort for our patients and parents as much as possible. We have outside referral sources, but rarely have to use them except for Ortho and some oral surgery cases. We have a very low BA rate. We use Dentrix Enterprise software and electronic medical records. A wide variety of services are performed including restorations, root canals, basic and surgical extractions, crowns, partials, dentures, pulpotomies, stainless steel crowns, etc. Our service area is not limited to but mostly include the eight surrounding counties and Wilkes. The patients primarily have Medicaid or Health Choice insurance, but could be self pay including private insurance. Salary is Base of $130,000 to $180,000 based on production percentage with an excellent benefit package. Our clinic qualifies for federal and state loan repayment programs. EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR POSITION AVAILABLE
Executive Director position open at Wilkes Public Health Dental Clinic. Minimum requirement is a BS degree; preferred, concentration in Health Sciences or Public Health. Management experience including accounting and budgets, human resource duties, development of policies and procedures, and non-profit responsibilities. Experience in dentistry will be advantageous. Demonstrate ability to work with community and state agencies. Contract is for 40 hours with a minimum of 36 contact hours. Hours are not limited to 8 to 5 due to occasional evening and weekend hours for programs and meetings. Salary range is $50,000 to $70,000 with excellent benefit package. DENTAL HYGIENIST POSITION AVAILABLE
Dental team seeks a personable, energetic and motivated Registered Public Health Dental Hygienist with a heart of gold to join us as the newest member of our exemplary team. Duties and responsibilites include providing prophylactic care appropriate for patients needs for adults and children, prrovide nutritional counseling, demonstrating proper brushing/flossing techniques, performing all functions defined under the provisions of a Registered Dental Hygienist as defined by NC Dental Laws and clarified by the Oral Health Section of the NC Department of Health and Human Services. Expected to remain current with dental hygiene literature and issues, participate in patient and community dental education presentations, dental screenings and assessments in schools and daycares and prepare exam rooms, sterilize instruments, and ensuring necessary equipment is ready for dentists. Preference is given to applicants who have preferably 5 years of experience, a minimum of 4,000 hours performing primarily prophylaxis or periodontal debridement, current CPR certification and experience with children and adults. Must have current license to practice dental hygiene in North Carolina issued by the NC Board of Dental Examiners and graduation from a dental hygiene program approved by the NC Board of Dental Examiners.
